We hope you have all are having a nice fall season! Our players seemed to have a great spring and summer of baseball in 2022. All of the players were willing to work hard to improve their skills and more importantly all players were excellent teammates and always demonstrated quality sportsmanship towards their opponents. The intention of this letter is to start the planning process for our 11/12 year old 2023 summer travel baseball team. We are hoping that this letter will help clarify the costs and time commitments that will be associated with this team so that we can get a commitment from families who are interested in playing next summer.
The philosophy for this summer program will be similar but not identical to our spring program. We will focus on skill development and continue to build our knowledge regarding baseball game strategies. Players will begin to focus on positions that fit their current skill set and have opportunities to try new positions at appropriate times. The coaching staff will make every effort to get every player into the game at some point, but playing time will not be equal. There may be some players who play every inning of a game and other players who may only play one inning or get one at bat. We will not be batting everyone if we have twelve players at the game. The coaches will be sure to make it a rewarding and positive experience while maintaining the appropriate priorities for youth sports.
This will also be an opportunity for players to learn how to compete to win, while maintaining a high level of sportsmanship. The coaches will expect players to be focused on the game at all times. Players will often be reminded that we support teammates when they make a mistake, and that baseball is full of mistakes! We will also help the players understand that it is the success and improvement of the group that takes priority over individual success.
The following page will break down the details regarding cost and time commitment. Please understand that these costs are just estimates and that the schedule is just to give you a rough idea of what we are planning. If there are potential issues with the cost we can provide financial assistance. Please take a look and feel free to ask any questions. We would like to have a list of committed players by November 15, 2022.
